Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo presents the first trailer of his much-anticipated psychological terror “Intruders” at the Malaga Spanish Film Festival.
MALAGA – Juan Carlos Fresnadillo presented the first trailer of his much-anticipated psychological terror Intruders, starring Clive Owen at the Malaga Spanish Film Festival Thursday.

“The film centers on the origin of the monsters that are born in childhood and are passed on by the family,” Fresnadillo said. “Clive looks like a normal man, even heroic, who has a range that can take him to do the dark side and allows him to travel the entire trajectory of the character.”

Flanked by Apaches Entertainment’s Jesus de la Vega and Antena 3 Films’ Mercedes Gamero, who co-produce the $13 million production, Fresnadillo said the film was being edited and had not closed with any festival as a premiere. But he did add, “We have many suitors.”

Fresnadillo is one of Spain’s most promising young talents with international draw and backing by Universal on his project and appeared Thursday just as broadcaster Antena 3 announced its production branch had signed a three-year pact with the Madrid Film School to foment fresh directors.

Spain’s northeastern region of Catalonia has successfully seen the benefits of broadcaster and film school synthesis, with regional broadcaster TV3 and the ESCAC film school producing a prolific filmography that includes some of Spain’s hottest talents like Juan Antonio Bayona.
